In this edition of 'Meet the Teacher' we speak with Ms. Therese Walsh from the Primary School.

Name: Therese (Tess) Walsh - Primary School Teacher - Year 2.2 - therese.walsh@marymede.vic.edu.au

What is your role at the College?

I am a member of the Primary School Teaching team, currently teaching Year 2.2.

Tell us about an interesting project or topic that you are currently running with one of your classes?

The Year 2 team and I have recently been working with students on a new program this year called 'The Levelled Literacy Intervention Program'. This program focuses on the individual needs of each of our students in order to help them reach their full potential. Students learn reading and writing skills in small groups with a direct focus on individual needs.

The Levelled Literacy Intervention lessons are designed to provide direct, yet fun, supplemental instruction for those who require it and we are already seeing some excellent results.

What is the most rewarding aspect of being a Teacher?

For me, the most rewarding aspect of being a teacher is being able to work closely with my students and inspire them to achieve their goals both academically and spiritually.

If You Could Pick Any 3 People as Dinner Guests, Who Would They Be and Why?:

Johnny Depp - Because he is a successful actor whom I would like to speak to about life in the eye of the media.

Oprah Winfrey - She has used her success to help others and I would love to find out what projects she is currently working on now.
