On Friday 22 July, our Prep students celebrated their first 100 days of Primary School!

Whilst minor for some, this was a momentous occasion for the youngest members of the Marymede Community, who celebrated their special day by participating in a range of activities related to the number 100, followed by a special 'Prep Disco' in the afternoon!

They were also spotted around the yard throughout the day wearing their '100 Days of School' badges which they decorated during the morning!

To celebrate the day, we asked some of our Prep students what their favourite part of Prep has been:

Isaac (Prep 1) – "I have enjoyed making lots of new friends and playing with them outside."

Holly (Prep 1) – "I have enjoyed learning about symmetry and telling the time."

Mackenzie (Prep 2) – "I have enjoyed learning how to write the letters of the alphabet."

Ace (Prep 3) – "I have loved learning Italian. I can count to ten in Italian!"

Elliah (Prep 4) – "I have enjoyed learning how to skip count by 10’s and 5’s."

Congratulations Prep students!

There was a change of scenery in the Year 2 House recently, with our students taking part in their first Friday Fun-Day of the year: taking part in some activities that our Year 2 Teaching Team are passionate about!

Activities included Comic Book creation on the iPads; Zumba & Dance Class; a fishing lesson; Aboriginal inspired art and a Science class which sees our students making their very own bath bombs!

A lot of smiling and happy faces and potentially some future fishermen/women!

On Friday 22 April, our Year 12 Media students were treated to a very special Masterclass and Q&A session with Class of 2015 graduates Stephanie Camilleri, Tayla Defazio, Jack Peerman and Daniel Sim.

As preparation for their SAT, the Masterclass provided our current Year 12 Media cohort with an insight into how some of last year’s top filmmakers and photographers at Marymede successfully created their media products. They also had the opportunity to talk about their own ideas and seek advice from the panel of experts.

Stephanie, Tayla, Jack and Daniel are all undertaking further education in Media and Film at La Trobe University, Swinburne University of Technology and JMC Academy. We'd like to thank them for their time and continued support of Marymede Catholic College.

There was history in the making for Marymede Catholic College on Thursday April 21, with our Year 10 Boys Premier League Soccer team capturing the College's first ever Boys Soccer Championship after a scintillating contest with St. Monica's College.

In a close contest and playing away from home, a brace from Lee Missailidis put Marymede in-front before a late equaliser would send the game into extra time and the dreaded penalty shootout.

Our boys would save the best for last though - with a heroic performance by Man of the Match Goalkeeper Matthew Krstina saving two kicks from the spot and helping to see the team to victory with the shootout ending 3-1.

Marymede Catholic College - 3 St. Monica's College - 3

Marymede Catholic College won 3-1 on penalties.

Marymede Catholic College would like to congratulate the entire Year 10 Boys Soccer Squad on this outstanding achievement - a victory that was 4 years in the making with many members of the team playing together since Year 7.
