Marymede Catholic College is looking forward to the 2018 School year with great excitement!

Here's what you need to know regarding commencement 2018.

1. WHEN DOES TERM 1, 2018 COMMENCE?

The first group of students will return to School for Term 1 on Wednesday 31 January 2018. This will be students in Years 7 to 12 only. Students in Years 3 to 6 will commence on Friday 2 February and finally all Prep – Year 2 students will commence on Monday 5 February.

2. WHERE DOES MY CHILD LINE UP DURING THE MORNING OF DAY ONE?

•    Year 7 students are to line up behind their House flags at 8.40am. They will be involved a short assembly and will then be collected by their House Captains.

•    NEW students in Years 8-12 are to meet at the Main Office at 8.40am where they will be collected by a Staff member from their House.

•    All other Year 8-12 students will head to their House/Homeroom areas on Day One.

•    Prep students are to meet just outside the Prep House with their parents. They will then be collected by their teachers and taken into class.

•    Students in Years 1 to 6 are to line up in their regular designated line up areas.

3. WHEN DOES THE MAIN OFFICE OPEN?

The Main Office has now re-opened, for any enquiries please contact 9407-9000.

4. WHERE CAN I FIND A LIST OF IMPORTANT DATES FOR TERM 1, 2018?

The College Calendar for 2018 is available on our College Website and can also be accessed via our Parent Access Module. We strongly encourage families to check the College Calendar on a regular basis as this is updated frequently.

5. IS THE UNIFORM SHOP OPEN?

Yes. The Uniform Shop is open on Tuesday 30 January and normal trading hours for Term 1 will commence on Wednesday 31 January 2018. The Uniform Shop can be contacted on 9036-7358. 

6. WHICH UNIFORM DOES MY CHILD WEAR IN TERM 1?

All students will be required to wear their SUMMER uniform for Term 1, 2018. New students are to refer to the acceptable footwear document provided to them upon enrolment for rules regarding footwear.

7. UPON THE COMMENCEMENT OF SCHOOL, WHERE CAN I DROP MY CHILD OFF AND COLLECT THEM FROM?

The College Drop-Off/Pick-Up areas are located at Gate A (exit through Gate C), Gate E and Gate F (exit through Gate G).

8. IS THERE ANY FURTHER INFORMATION WE SHOULD KNOW ABOUT BOOKLISTS?

Families who have not yet ordered their child’s/children books for 2018 via the OfficeMax portal are strongly encouraged to do so immediately. This will ensure that your child has access to all of the required online resources from the commencement of the school year.

All e-Resources listed via OfficeMax Portal are a compulsory requirement. Primary students will be provided with login details from their classroom teachers the week commencing Monday 5 February. 

Any family who has previously placed an order but omitted the digital subscription component will be required to log in again and place a further order. Parents can log on via the following website:

VCE Students who have purchased their online texts from OfficeMax should have received an email outlining all of their access codes and websites for their e-resources 2 or 3 days after purchase. These are subject specific. 

Students in Years 7 -10 should have received an email with their login details for their e-resources from either our Director of ICT, OfficeMax or KWL.  

Students who have not purchased the e-resources by 3 February will have their access to these resources removed until payment is made.

9. I DID NOT REVIEW MY CHILD’S SEMESTER 2, 2017 ACADEMIC REPORT, WHERE CAN I ACCESS THIS?

Semester 2, 2017 Academic Reports were released online via our Parent Access Module (PAM) during the final week of Term 4, 2017. Parents will be able to access their child’s report by visiting PAM and logging in with the details provided to them. If you cannot remember you PAM login details, please contact the College on 9407-9000. For privacy reasons, the College will need to confirm the identity of any detail request before providing usernames and passwords.

10. PRIMARY SCHOOL TESTING DATES:

During the final week of 2017, all Primary families received a letter containing login details to book testing sessions via our Parent Access Module.

Various testing sessions will take place by appointment on Wednesday 31 January, Thursday 1 February and Friday 2 February (Refer to individual starting dates for year level specific testing). Any student who is unable to attend a testing date this week will be tested by their classroom teacher during the early weeks of Term 1.

11. WILL WE HAVE A CHANCE TO SPEAK WITH COLLEGE PRINCIPAL MR. KENNY IN TERM 1?

Yes, all families will have the opportunity to catch up Mr. Michael Kenny via a ‘Morning Tea with the Principal’ in the early stages of Term 1 and throughout 2018.

12. MY CHILD IS NEW TO MARYMEDE CATHOLIC COLLEGE IN 2018, AND WOULD LIKE TO CHANGE HOUSES. IS THIS POSSIBLE?

No. The College does not allow for movement between Houses.

13. MY CHILD IS NEW TO MARYMEDE CATHOLIC COLLEGE IN 2018. WHAT ITEMS CAN HE/SHE BRING WITH HER TO SCHOOL EACH DAY?

The College does not take responsibility for any personal items brought into the College grounds. Secondary School students should refer to their 2018 Student Diary for rules regarding the use of Mobile Phones and other technologies on College grounds.

14. WHAT ARE THE SCHOOL FEES IN 2018?

15. WHEN WILL FEE STATEMENTS FOR 2018 BE SENT OUT?

2018 fee statements have now been sent to all families. If you have not received your fee statement or would like more information regarding School fees please contact the Accounts Office on 9407 9000.

16. WILL THE SCHOOL BUS SERVICE CONTINUE IN 2018?

Yes, the School Bus Service will continue in 2018. Information regarding the Bus service this year has been sent to all families. The College requires a 25% deposit on all Bus fees by no later than Friday 2 February, with all Semester 1 Bus fees required to be paid IN FULL by no later than Friday 23 February, 2018.

17. MY CONTACT DETAILS HAVE CHANGED OVER THE CHRISTMAS BREAK, WHO CAN I REPORT THESE TO?

For any change in contact details please contact the College Registrar on 9407-9000 or alternatively email to registrar@marymede.vic.edu.au.

PLEASE NOTE: Any family who changes contact details via CareMonkey is also required to report this change to the College.

18. ARE 2019 and 2020 ENROLMENT APPLICATIONS OPEN?

Yes. Applications for Year 7, 2020 are open now and close on 3 August 2018. 

Yes. Applications for Prep 2019 are open and will close on Monday 11 May, 2018.

19. WHEN IS THE IT HELPDESK OPEN? 

The IT Helpdesk is open daily between the hours of 8.00am and 4.00pm. You can contact the IT Helpdesk via phone on 9407-9020 or email at helpdesk@marymede.vic.edu.au.

20. MY CHILD HAS A DEVICE AT THE IT HELPDESK FOR REPAIR. WHEN WILL IT BE READY?

All devices which were submitted for repair over the School holidays are now ready for collection. Please refer to the Warranty Loss and Repair document attached to this email for further information.

21. MY CHILD’S DEVICE REQUIRES REPAIR PRIOR TO SCHOOL COMMENCING, WHAT SHOULD I DO?

If your child’s device requires repair please bring this in to the IT Helpdesk as soon as possible.

22. WILL MY YEAR 7 CHILD BE PROVIDED WITH A DEVICE IN 2018?

All Year 7, 2018 students were provided with their device at Orientation last year. All new students in Years 8-12 were also provided with their device at their orientation session. 

23. WHEN WILL 2018 SCHOOL PHOTOS TAKE PLACE?

School photos will take place on Monday 5 March 2018, the College will also be offering Sibling photos in 2018. Further correspondence regarding School photos will be sent to families in the coming weeks.

24. WILL THERE BE ANY PARENT INFORMATION EVENINGS/IMPORTANT DATES AT THE BEGINNING OF THE 2018 SCHOOL YEAR?

25. WHEN WILL SECONDARY SCHOOL STUDENTS HAVE ACCESS TO THEIR CLASS TIMETABLES?

Secondary School students will be able to access their draft class timetable via SIMON from Tuesday 30 January. Students can log into SIMON via https://simon.marymede.vic.edu.au. Students are to log in with their existing username and password.
