As part of our commitment to Reconciliation, Marymede Catholic College recently celebrated National Reconciliation Week 2016 with House Assemblies involving a range of speakers:
Uncle Ian Hunter local Wurundjeri elder and traditional landowner performed a Smoking Ceremony and shared his story with Romero;
Members of the Stolen Generation Debbie and Kerry shared their story and journey of healing with McCormack and McAuley;
Karen spoke to Marcellin House about the role of Aboriginal people in Australia’s history and Bryan spoke to Chisholm about ‘History in Pictures’ a series of artworks designed by Aboriginal artists, each against the theme of government policies pertaining to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander affairs.
