SPORT
SPORT
Our philosophy is to encourage and promote a healthy and active lifestyle through regular exercise.
Primary school students have the opportunity to participate in physical education lessons, House sport, interschool sport and major House and interschool carnivals.
House sport is conducted within each year level. Students play traditional and modified games including T-Ball, Soccer, Australian Rules football, volleyball, and basketball ‘hoop-time’. In addition, major events are held such as the walkathon, cross-country, athletics and swimming carnivals.
Interschool sport is conducted within the Bridge Inn District competition. Other participating primary schools include Morang South, The Lakes, St Joseph’s Mernda, Whittlesea and St Mary’s, Whittlesea.
The interschool competition includes weekly games of netball and football, round-robin events in cricket, soccer, T-Ball, volleyball and basketball, and carnivals in swimming, cross-country and athletics.
Qualifying teams or athletes may progress through to Whittlesea/Hume Division, then to Northern Metropolitan Region and finally to State level competition.
The Marymede sport program seeks to instil high standards of sporting behaviour on and off the field. All students are expected to show respect for their coaches, team mates, opponents and umpires.
