Congratulations to Marymede's own Cameron Hughes (Year 12) who recently competed for Victoria in the 2017 Australian Men's and Mixed Netball Association Championships held in Queensland.

Cameron's U17's team would go on to reach the Grand Final and finish runner-up to New South Wales.

Cameron, who plays the position of Centre, started his Netball journey at the age of 12 after filling in for his sister's Mixed Team competition one evening and has been playing ever since. Although he opted against trying out for the National team this year due to Year 12 commitments, it is a challenge which he may look to undertake in the future with a view to one day representing his country on a tour to traditional Netball rivals - new Zealand.

Congratulations Cameron and best wishes for your future sporting endeavours!

Do not miss your chance to experience our inaugural Junior Production SEUSSICAL JR!

Horton the Elephant, the Cat in the Hat and all of your favourite Dr. Seuss characters spring to life onstage in Seussical JR., a fantastical musical extravaganza from Tony-winners, Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty.

Transporting audiences from the Jungle of Nool to the Circus McGurkus, the Cat in the Hat narrates the story of Horton the Elephant, who discovers a speck of dust containing tiny people called the Whos. Horton must protect the Whos from a world of naysayers and dangers, and he must also guard an abandoned egg that's been left in his care by the irresponsible Mayzie La Bird.  Although Horton faces ridicule, danger and a trial, the intrepid Gertrude McFuzz never loses faith in him.  Ultimately, the powers of friendship, loyalty, family and community are challenged and emerge triumphant!

Tickets go on sale from 9.00am on Monday 24th April 2017.

In our first edition of 'Meet the Parent' we are speaking with Pina Grasso, a foundation parent here at the College.

Name: Pina Grasso

What year did you join the Marymede Community and what year level/s are your children in?

We joined the Marymede Community in 2006 - my eldest son John commenced as a foundation student and is currently in Year 11 and my daughter Olivia started in 2011 and is now in Year 5.

Why did you choose Marymede Catholic College for your son/daughter's education?

The thought of a new School with brand new facilities and more importantly a Catholic Prep - Year 12 establishment sounded pretty amazing.

What have been some of your most memorable highlights during your time here at the College?

We have many fond memories at Marymede to recount - As a foundation parent, we experienced the first of many new introductions - the development and growth of the School from its beginning until now has been very encouraging and pleasing for me as a parent.

What is your favourite thing about Marymede Catholic College?

The fact that we can drop off and pick up both our children at the same facility is amazing - it saves us parents a lot of time.

Fast Five:

Favourite Food: Anything Thai!

Favourite Movie/TV Show: Call the Midwife and Dr Zhivago

Hidden Talent or Something We May Not Know About You: I am a great organiser!

Favourite Sporting Team/Athlete: Essendon Bombers Football Club

If You Could Pick Any 3 People as Dinner Guests, Who Would They Be and Why?:

The Bee Gees - I just love their music.

Audrey Hepburn - Because she is all class.

My Father - Just to hear his voice again.

Pina with her Husband Sam, and children Olivia and John.
