Taneisha Fredericks - Year 11, 2015
This painting is my first important painting, not only to myself but what it signifies as a metaphoric symbol. In this day and age I think that people tend to forget the post-traumatic stress of both physical and mental pain. To show this throughout my piece I choose a solider as the physical battle scar because I understand that the beauty of protecting your country is not the only challenge for an officer and I tried to incorporate that into my painting, as if the character were a returned solider from war. The mental part is the recent increase in suicide for teens, as though it does not matter what stage of life you are at, you are vulnerable to pain and depression. This is the sad truth that I wish to voice in hope that it will make someone not feel as alone. Love to everyone.
